HSK-IBT

HSK IBT（Internet Based Test）, launched by Hanban, is a new form of testing added to its paper-based testing. HSK IBT allows for handing out text papers online, answering various forms of questions online such as listening, reading, writing and speaking questions and handing in test answers online. The entire testing process is paperless and the result is the same as HSK (paper test).

The HSK IBT has four advantages:
1. Extension of test application time. Because the test does not involve printing and mailing test papers, the application deadline expires 10 days prior to the test, which maximizes convenience for students who want to sign up for the test;

2. Independent audio broadcast in listening section. Students are able to better listen to questions in this section without interference and environmental noise;

3. Keyboard input. Students usually type Chinese into a computer when they need to ' write' Chinese in daily life, so the HSK IBT adopts quick and convenient keyboard input for testing students' practical abilities in the use of Chinese. Additionally, in consideration of students who are not familiar with typing, the HSK IBT also provides digital pens similar to those in writing test form for test takers. Test takers can choose whichever method they consider more suitable.
